I've been hooked to this series from the moment I read the premise. I had a feeling it was going to be an epic tale, I just had no idea how epic. One story, centered around one couple, but influenced by history and so many others, took 7 books and 2,042 pages to tell. Not a single word was superfluous, and the story remained riveting from the first word to the last. That takes skill. This last book, Final Debt was perhaps one of my most highly anticipated reads ever because not only is Pepper Winters a master story teller, but she is the empress of cliffhangers.

The prologue really set the mood. Right from the start I was on edge; my heart was pounding and I may have even been sweating. It was impossible not to, knowing that the possibility of Nila and Jethro not having a happy ending was a serious possibility. There are so many ups and downs in this book. I never once could predict what was going to happen or how things were going to go down. I felt like this last part of the Indebted Series had the most numerous and biggest plot twists of all the series combined.

One of the biggest changes I noticed in this book was in Nila and Jethro. If you look at how they were at the beginning of the series to them at the beginning of Final Debt, it's like a complete 180 degree difference. Nila is such a pillar of strength, not just for herself, but for her family and Jethro too. She's so sure of herself and mentally strong enough to do and handle things I never would've thought she was possible or capable of. I don't think I'd be able to comport myself the way she did. Jethro is stronger too, and definitely more human and likable. He still wasn't a nice guy, but he was nicer than he was before. Love and Nila changed him. I also feel like he realized what made him different, also strengthened him instead of making him weaker.

The one thing about this book that left me stunned was Daniel and Cut. I've hated them from the moment I met them; They're mean, cruel, hateful, and deprived. However, by the time the book was over, I can say there were even moments when I felt sorry for them. I know it's shocking and hard to believe, but so much about who they were and why they became the adults they were was explained and it was hard not to feel some sympathy for them. It was a small amount, but it was enough to make me wonder what they could've been like had things been different.

I've that said with every book Pepper Winters has out done herself. Honestly I can't even comprehend how any book can be better than this one. I have no doubt she'll come up with many ways to make me change my mind. But The Indebted Series will always be my favorite.
