This story really had potential but it just fell flat on its face. Ms. Jamieson definitely knows how to write but I just found Lovey’s character to be juvenile with the things she would say. She was for the lack of a better word- cheesy. Even though it’s eventually revealed that she worked for a cheese company, it was done so too far in and by that point her corny sayings were already on my last nerve. Marc came across as a big oaf. An oaf with a huge heart but an oaf none the less. Most of the time their interactions bored me because he would only give one word answers. Last but not least I move on to the sex scenes. When the author was describing their actions, it flowed and I had no problem. But once Lovey and Marc opened their mouths…it was over for me, I lost interest. While I was a bit disappointed with Major Misconduct I am willing to give the next book a chance hoping that I’ll see an improvement.

Major Misconduct An Aces Hockey Novel edition by Kelly Jamieson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What is it about a Kelly Jamieson book that I love? I read adventure paired with romance. The closest Jamieson's books get to adventure is a hockey puck to the face. The majority of books I read are in space, in the future or in the past. Yet hers are always set firmly in the present. I like the spicy side of romance described in books. Jamieson.....well, she does that. Deliciously.

It is easy to get buried in the people that make up a Jamieson book. They are like this big body pillow that surrounds you on all sides and make you comfortable. Sure, they have problems and quirks and tempers and vanities. Like everyone. But, I think what draws me in to a Jamieson book is that essentially her main characters have to overcome their own fears and shortcomings. They lack the confidence to invest in a relationship, so they stew for a while, and then they set about changing the environment so there is going to be a payback on their investment. There aren't dramatic changes, just a willingness to move forward. I like that. Normal people taking a chance on their happiness.

This novel takes us back to a favorite of Jamieson's - professional hockey. These guys are bearded hunks with perfect teeth and beautiful, athletic bodies. I find it amusing that Jamieson has kept up with trends and reluctantly put facial hair on some of her players, given that pro hockey's best are currently hiding behind massive, bushy beards. I enjoy the little touches she includes that clearly come from a familiarity with the sport. The part about the stinky youth hockey equipment in the van had me laughing out loud. And one of these days I'm sure I will read a reference about how much of that ice is actually accumulated spit from the players.

This story is about Lovey (Lovenia) Armstrong impulsively moving in with her older brother, a player for the Chicago Aces hockey team. This is when she meets his hottie roommate, Aces Team Captain Marc Dupuis. Because sisters are off limits, there is a little taste of forbidden to the story. Both Lovey and Marc have recently ended relationships, so neither is looking to forge something lasting and meaningful. But sometimes the heart has other plans.

The ribald conversations and good-natured jokes are a fun part of this book. I laughed out loud several times and caught myself smiling as I read along. The tone changes to more serious times, too. Jamieson is excellent at bringing forth all sorts of emotions as you read one of her books. Hockey and KJ - always a good time.
I was gifted an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Kelly has given us another fantastic book and best yet it’s the start of a new series!!

Lovey Armstrong has quit her job and relocated her life to Chicago. She plans on living with her brother who plays for the Chicago Aces hockey team, only she forgot to fill him in on this! She turns up on his doorstep only to find that he doesn’t live alone, he has a HOT roommate who is also the team captain.

Marc Dupuis is the team captain of the Chicago Aces and takes his role seriously on and off the ice. After his previous girlfriend dumps him for not being romantic enough he swears off women to concentrate on the other aspects of his life that he is good at.

Duncan Armstrong – Lovey’s brother – warns the entire team off of his sister. But Lovey has set her sights on Marc and what Lovey wants, Lovey gets!
I really enjoyed this book, it was refreshing to have the roles reversed for a change. Marc is much more invested in their relationship whereas Lovey was looking for a fling, a bit of fun with no labels or was she?

Once you start this book it is difficult to put it down. Thanks Kelly, can’t wait for the next one!
Kelly Jamieson is turning me into a hockey fan, that's how much I enjoy this entry in her Aces series.

Captain of Aces hockey team Marc is coming off a bad breakup. Lovey is coming off an easy breakup. They meet when Lovey descends on her brother Duncan, also an Aces player, in the sweet Chicago penthouse he shares with Marc (I did find that a little weird, but that's the setup we're given).

She's keeping secrets about her plans and ambitions and he's reluctant to get involved with her, although she comes on strong. Yes, there's a bit of that ol' trope "My sister if off limits to all my hot and horny friends" so Marc reluctantly agrees to keep their relationship secret.

Even if I didn't like sports stories (I do); even if I didn't like Lovey (I do); even if the plot was boring (it isn't), Major Misconduct would be worth 5 stars for Marc. He's hot of course, but also French Canadian and thus capable of murmuring sweet nothings in French. He's funny, with a great deadpan delivery. And once he's in love, he's becomes even more appealing.

ARC given in exchange for an honest review.
I love sports romances. I read the holiday novella in this series first and really liked it. I was looking forward to his one, but it was disappointing. The hero was likable enough, but the heroine was immature, self-centered, and flighty. I found her exasperating and unlikable. They did not have very good chemistry. There wasn't much of a storyline. The book wasn't awful, but there wasn't much for me to like. I'll give another book in the series a try, but I'll go in with much lower expectations.
