An Unusual family A child’s struggle with life, school, and ADHD short and concise story giving and overview of a child's experiences.
Life is chaotic enough, but for 8-year-old Dennis, it is downright mystifying. The doctor says Dennis has something called “ADHD,” but what does that mean? Maybe it’s the reason he struggles so much with unpredictable mysteries like “cover teachers”—or why he gets in trouble all the time at home.
Not only does Dennis struggle to focus and follow instructions he doesn’t seem to follow social cues that seem to come easy for his classmates, but he’s also got to deal with Joshua—his chaos adverse younger brother with a diagnosis of his own. Between Dennis’s ADHD and Joshua’s ASD, there is more mayhem and mischief at home than anyone ever dreamed.
Survive Dennis will, though—and thrive. Follow Dennis’s journey as he fights to have his needs met using the only tools he has.
This book is recommended for children, parents, teachers, and caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).

As a mother to a son with ADHD, I found myself nodding and rolling my eyes a few times during this short read. The author obviously knows something about how such kids behave. If you are clueless on this issue, and want to have a clue, this little volume can help. The story could also help elementary-aged boys with ADHD to feel not so alone. But this book lacked the depth I thought it would have based on the description, especially regarding techniques that help kids with ADHD to stay focused or calm down (btw, my son’s symptoms diminished noticeably once I put him on magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6 supplements. Just sayin’.) Instead, there are a few fictional illustrations of how a non-medicated/nutritionally deficient child with ADHD can drive their parents bonkers. And almost the entire half of the book (based on Kindle’s progress bar at the bottom of each page of the book) is irrelevant fillers, like jokes and blanks for writing in favorite activities.
Finally, it needs better proofreading/editing.
I got this for f.ree (Bookgorilla promo), and I suppose if its price is not more than a d.ollar, it would be worth it. But I wouldn’t recommend anyone pay.ing more for it.

I will give 5 stars to the n
Book as it made me understand the inner world of a child with ADHD. The book provides strategies to help and all this without being big fat bulky book. it is a nice quick read with tons of knowledge.
This book has given me hope for my nieces struggles with adhd. I hope and pray that this book gives other people the inspiration that it has given me and plus some more. Great read!
I would like to recommend this book for any parent who have ADHD child. Children with ADHD may have trouble consecrating, tend to act without thought and/or be excessively active. If you want real information and strategies that really work to support children with ADHD, then this book should be the first and last place you look.
I have 5 children. 4 girls and 1 boy. My son suffers from mild ADHD. Upon reading this profound book, i felt as though for the very first time, I was able to put myself in his shoes. In order to truly help and educate others, you must live life through their eyes. As a parent it can be a little scary and daunting to take on a task such as ADHD. This book has given me new found hope and a deeper realization into the mind of my son and others like him. A Must Read!
